Nurses & Admin crew have outnumbered vets in our team for years. Within the clinic the ratio is currently 17:4 FTE & that exceptional level of support extends right through the practice. At Town & Country Vet we totally appreciate how valuable an excellent team is for our wellbeing and in delivering exceptional care for our clients & patients.
Much of our practice focuses on ever-increasing demand for companion animal care & services. Being a mixed practice we work with dairy, red meat, & lifestyle farmers throughout the region. We’ve always had a strong equine component, and this continues to grow.
Purpose built in 2007, our well-equipped Richmond clinic includes extensive surgical & diagnostic equipment, plus the South Island’s only hyperbaric oxygen therapy chamber. We also have an equine clinic nearby & a branch clinic at Wakefield.
Roger & Joe head our production animal team. Having spent all of their careers in mixed practice both have extensive experience in dairy, sheep & beef, deer & lifestyle farming. Warren Mitchell (MANZCVS) ‘Mitch’ leads our equine side of the practice. He has a special interest in equine reproduction, lameness & dentistry and loves investigating performance issues in sport horses. Our companion animal medicine & surgery team is very experienced averaging over 20 years each across 8 vets. Todd (MANZCVS) tackles the more challenging surgical cases & is an experienced surgeon in soft tissue and orthopaedics. He is backed up by Llyn who also performs TTO surgeries for cruciate disease in dogs.
Need we say more? Whether it’s arts, food, culture, the great outdoors, our legendary climate or all of these things, Nelson Tasman offers the ultimate work/life balance.
