The Vet Company Companion Animal Special Interest Group (SIG) holds an annual meeting, generally in Nelson with a focus topic. Topics have included geriatric medicine, working dogs, pain management, arthritis, rehabilitation medicine, orthopaedic surgery, and dermatology, together with technical information on new products. Speakers have included a mixture of specialist guest speakers, industry veterinarians and representatives, together with our own senior veterinarians with special interest skills. As well as improving clinical standards across the group by sharing best practice, referral networks have been established, utilising the skills and experience of our senior clinicians. Vet Company exclusive programmes such as our GreyPaws geriatric programme and WorkingPaws working dog health programme have been developed by the group.
Meetings are enthusiastically anticipated by veterinarians, providing a very high standard of CVE. They are generally held over two days so that an overnight stay with dinner allows social interaction and collegial discussion, strengthening both professional and personal relationships across the groups companion animal veterinarians.
